Time to Compete’s Mission

Time to Compete is dedicated to supporting young adults battling cancer by providing both emotional and practical assistance. Our mission is to ensure that no young adult faces the overwhelming challenges of cancer alone.

We focus on building a community of strength and solidarity by creating meaningful connections, distributing much-needed resources, and offering educational initiatives. Founded on the core values of Unity, Perseverance, and Vulnerability, Time to Compete works through innovative partnerships, community engagement, and direct aid to foster resilience and reduce the burden faced by young adults during treatment.

We believe that with the right support and the power of community, we can help those affected by cancer lead empowered lives, filled with hope and the strength to face each day.

How We Give Back: Supporting Young Adults Competing with Cancer

Time To Compete Care Bags

We distribute “TTC Care Bags” to support any and all young adults (19-29) from Maine with a cancer diagnosis. A simple online form needs to be filled out by a patient advocate, social worker or oncology nurse on the patience behalf. These bags include grocery gift cards, rideshare cards, utility gift cards, and more, designed to provide much-needed assistance to ease the daily burdens patients face during treatment. Our goal is to make life a little more comfortable by supporting young adults during this difficult time by addressing some of the basic, everyday needs that are often overlooked.

Community Engagement Activities

We believe in the healing power of connection. Time to Compete organizes community events, social gatherings, and workshops that help foster a sense of community, so patients feel included and supported.

Further, we aim to facilitate a virtual community among the young people we assist. Having access to peers in similar circumstances can help tremendously in addressing questions, concerns, fears, hopes, in a safer and collaborative space. As a part of this effort, we will be working on developing digital community spaces for these young people.  We are still working out the details at this time.
